Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and the operator of WC3 DataCraft ("WC3 DataCraft", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the site at any of its URLs, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Legal Notices. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
If you use the site on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms. The site is intended for users aged 13 or over. Users between 13 and 18 confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms on their behalf, as required by applicable data-protection law.
2. About WC3 DataCraft
WC3 DataCraft is an independent fan project. We compile, derive, and present statistics, ratios, glossaries, and graphical analyses of in-game units and mechanics from Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and Warcraft III: Reforged (collectively, the "Game"). All Game data, names, characters, art, trademarks, and references are the property of their respective owners. The site is provided free of charge and is not monetised through advertising, paid tiers, affiliate links, or any other commercial mechanism at the date these Terms become effective. Should this change in the future, we will publish a revised version of the Terms before any such mechanism is introduced.
3. License to use the site
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access and use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes, such as reading, learning, referencing statistics in private discussion, and educational use. This licence does not grant you any right to:
- resell, rent, sublicense, or otherwise commercialise any part of the site or its content;
- reproduce or redistribute substantial portions of the site under a brand that suggests affiliation with us;
- scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content beyond what is reasonable for personal use, or by means that impose an unreasonable load on the site's infrastructure;
- use the site's content as training data for commercial machine-learning models without our prior written consent. Academic research and personal experimentation are permitted.
4. Intellectual property
4.1 Game content
All references to units, abilities, heroes, races, buildings, items, and other in-game entities of Warcraft III are the intellectual property of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. We use such references in good faith under Blizzard's Fan Content Policy, as a free non-commercial informational resource. We claim no ownership of the underlying Game or its trademarks. See Legal Notices §2.
4.2 Our original contributions
The source code of the site, our database schema, the derived metrics we compute (such as effective HP, modified DPS, food-normalised ratios, role classifications), our written glossaries, our visual designs, the WC3 DataCraft name and logo, and the layout of our pages are our original work. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, these original elements are protected under applicable copyright law and international copyright treaties. You may quote short excerpts for review, commentary, or educational purposes provided you give clear attribution and a link back to the source page.
4.3 Third-party data
Some icons and reference data are sourced from third-party fan wikis and are made available under their respective licences. See Legal Notices §3 for the full list and licence terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site to:
- violate any applicable law or regulation in your jurisdiction;
- interfere with, disable, or compromise the site, its hosting infrastructure, or other users' access (for example, denial-of-service attempts, automated mass requests, or attempts to bypass rate limits);
- misrepresent the site's content as official, endorsed, or affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. or any other rights holder mentioned anywhere on the site;
- upload, transmit, or submit feedback that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, infringing, or that contains malware, exploits, or personal data of third parties;
- probe, scan, or attempt to access non-public areas of the site or our supporting services.
We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, block access from IP addresses or networks that, in our reasonable judgement, breach this section.
6. Feedback submissions
The site provides an optional "Share Feedback!" form. By submitting feedback, you:
- represent that the content is your own and does not infringe any third party's rights;
- grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce, adapt, and incorporate the feedback into the site or its underlying data, for the purpose of improving the project;
- understand that we are under no obligation to act on, reply to, or preserve any specific piece of feedback.
Do not include personal data (about yourself or anyone else) in your feedback unless strictly necessary. For details on what we store, see the Privacy Policy §3.
7. Third-party links and services
The site may contain links to third-party websites (for example, community fan wikis, official Blizzard pages, GitHub) and may load fonts, scripts, or other resources from third-party providers (currently Google Fonts and Google Apps Script — see the Privacy Policy §4). We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, availability, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that party's own terms.
8. Accuracy of game data
Game balance and unit statistics change with every patch released by Blizzard. We make reasonable efforts to keep the data up to date and to identify the patch version when relevant, but we make no guarantee that any specific value, ratio, ranking, or interpretation on the site matches the current live version of Warcraft III. The site is not an official source. For authoritative information, always consult the Game's official patch notes and in-game tooltips.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The site and all its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all such warranties.
No oral or written statement obtained from us or through the site shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall WC3 DataCraft, its operator, contributors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the site — whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Where applicable law does not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the site or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us to use the site in the twelve months preceding the claim, which is USD 0 for a free site, or (b) USD 100.
11. Changes to the site or these Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time without prior notice. We may revise these Terms from time to time; when we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, we will display a notice on the homepage for a reasonable period. Continued use of the site after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
